The Sailor was painted in September 2019 in acrylic after a pencil and colour pens drawing on the canvas. This is another of the barmaids paintings and the final one before this female resigned her post. The image is 1500 by 1200 pixels and is displayed at 50%. Maybe the boat at nearly full sail in the harbour is about to set off without her...
The drawing came from several sources. One was an Internet picture of her holding a tin can, another was a hoizontally flipped picture of Laoghaire tempting Jamie in season 1 of Outlander, and another was from the skirt worn by Brianna before meeting Jamie in season 4 of Outlander, and there was of course the sailing ship. The harbour with hills, sun, sky and water are just imaginary. The painting can couple with the Witch in Flight painting, as each transforms the person into someone other. That one was asked for whereas this was a surprise leaving present.
