Barmaid Friends was painted in April 2019 in acrylic on to a base drawing using coloured pens. Image is 1450 by 1200 and displayed reduced (50%). The leaves background was simply for something other than bottles and booze.
When I started it I drew it with a non-specific location of bottles on shelves behind. However, I wanted to extract them from this background, and so I painted it over black and later added leaves, as above.
The young woman to the right was challenging because I realised that she has quite white flesh, so coats of a yellowy white were added and hints of blue and pink added for three dimensions or modelling purposes. I also added orangy white layers to the young woman on the right simply because in my painting she looked too old. The less detail, the younger they look, but the cost is loss of modelling.
